A trip in the woods with the local Land Rover Club

Today I met up with the local region of the Danish Land Rover Club (DLRK), in one of the members private forests.

The morning had been plagued by torrential rain, and quite the thunderstorm. However the last drips came as we drove down the lane, heading to the wood.

It had been some time since the last visit, so the paths in the wood had grown a bit over. Members jumped into their Landies, and went out to rediscover them.

I was invited to join a club member in his lovely SOA converted Series IIa, powered by a V8 (I’m guessing a 3,5 litre Rover).

The V8 does have the best engine sound of all engine types.

After roaming the woods, the grill was lit, and a small mountain of sausages were devoured.

The rest of the day went with kicking tyres, driving in the woods and conversations.

Years back I had a dream of getting hold of a series IIa ambulance, that had it’s internals ruined enough, that I could give it a camper conversion without getting a bad conscience.
Today I was offered the possibility of owning exactly that.

Luckily it was a late series IIa, and not “a real Land Rover”, with the headlights in the grill. I haven’t got enough time for one project at the moment, so I better not buy another 😇

But if you can live with having headlights in the wings, this project Land Rover sure could become the base of an almost perfect camper.
